Daniel Richard: 7 Anti-Worry Hacks During This Financial Crisis

  • Mike King · 1 year ago
Daniel, great tips here. I think the limo/cab one threw me off a little though. How about riding your bike instead and not only save some money, but some resources. OK, maybe that's off topic. There are certainly a LOT of ways to keep your mind off this though.

Thanks Mike! 1st point was to inject a little humor to this entry. There's definitely lots more ways to get us not to worry about this season, and keeping to 7 allows us to absorb the points easier (while I will have lesser work to do too). :)

    Stumbled and Dugg!

Its a nice piece of article and its really a motivational one, well done Daniel, you must write more these type of articles. I wanna add one more thing too; If you are so much stressed with your daily life, take a little break and do something that doesn't requires to think, like playing with a ping pong ball -just to relax your mind.

And yes I liked the new Disqus comments system. I thin you lost your older comments :(
  • Daniel Richard · 1 year ago
Haha. And after playing with the ping pong ball, I'd go write something like "101 creative things to do with a ping pong ball".

Looks like I've got a standard to maintain now. :)

But sometimes human just like to worry. It's the level of consciousness of a individual that helps. If a person with lower consciousness, the activities will not really help. Only if someone who know how to control their mind and brain find those activities useful when they are stuck. My 2 cents though.

Take the lead by worrying less every single day. I believe that it takes one friend of someone who likes to worry too much to speak to the person's life to worry less and take a firm stand to improve in that area for change to happen.

It's not easy to stop worrying when it's become such an ingrained habit, but we have to start taking small steps to reach our goals. We can do this through suggestions like yours. My favorite is "start blogging." When we put ourselves out there we get a better understanding of who we are.
  • Daniel Richard · 1 year ago
Heya Karl! Blogging helps a person to not live in denial, but to understand his own situation at that point of time while building up confidence that will get himself back on track, and probably find himself in a totally better job even in the midst of this financial crisis. You are right on with your comment about getting a better understanding of who we are as we put ourselves out there (in the blogosphere). :)

Great post! I especially like the self-employed section.......entrepreneurism is the key to freedom!
  • Daniel Richard · 1 year ago
Or investing, selling, freelancing... etc. Oh wait, those can fall under the category of entrepreneurship. Haha

I think the last tip is the most valuable tips: Just Stop Worrying!!!
  • Daniel Richard · 1 year ago
Saved the best for last! :D

    Hello Daniel

Great advice, and I love the quote, worrying does not solve anything, only creates more problems - stress, anxiety, etc. Stumbled blogger buddy!
  • Daniel Richard · 1 year ago
Worry does solve something... It helps to kill off time. But I sure hope that no one would ever want to be good in worrying. Right? :)

I love the cab idea (tongue in cheek)! This is a good reminder for me to use the local library – what a concept!
  • Daniel Richard · 1 year ago
The library thing was taken right out from my personal experience. There was this period of 6 months where I literally lived every single school day in my polytechnic library, which was when I had developed a new-found interest in reading. Could say that I got used to many words that I never used before till recently, and it did help that the first time I got hold onto a book was from a shelve near my desk and it was from the Business / Management section. :)

Another great thing about blogging is the people you connect to. Who knows, maybe a fellow blogger works in your industry and can tip you off to a new job if yours is in danger. Blogging leads to social media leads to great networking opportunities.

Heya Kristi! You've brought a new light to me in regards to blogging, social media, and networking! But one thing's for sure: all that helps to lead us to meeting more cool new people online. :)

A great light hearted article for those facing the credit crunch. There is always better things to do than worrying about whether we could keep our job intact. Right article at the right time daniel. Great work.

Thanks man! This article could go even further by helping to spread this out to more people who could do with some motivation and cheering up to live not in worry or fear. How bout that? :)
  • Evelyn Lim · 1 year ago
You are right. There is no point worrying excessively. It is best to channel our efforts into doing something productive while in between jobs.
  • Daniel Richard · 1 year ago
Double agree with you on this Evelyn!
  • Jennifer · 1 year ago
Great tips Daniel. We are not defeated until/unless we are defeated in out on minds. Isn't this a time of opportunity?
  • Daniel Richard · 1 year ago
That's right Jennifer! I'm sure we ain't gonna get defeated in our minds regardless the situation right?
  • Larry · 1 year ago
Great article, I like all of them except I am not taking a cab unless I am out drinking alone and want to be safe getting home. But the self employed one I like, I could get laided off today and still earn enough to survive with the knowledge I have to make money on the net.
  • Daniel Richard · 11 months ago
    Right on Larry! :)
  • Johnson Koh · 1 year ago
    Great article here :D
I'm actually living on point 1,3 and 4
  • Daniel Richard · 1 year ago
    Heya Johnson!

When you said point 1, you meant the taking cab part or by going for affordable expenses? :)
  • Matt · 1 year ago
I think that point 5 is a particularly good one nowadays. I suspect that as so many companies have to cut advertising costs and find new ways to promote their products, people with expertise in web marketing could benefit greatly.

Actually, I suspect that jobs of the kind you describe could actually increase in number quite dramatically over the next year or so.
  • Daniel Richard · 11 months ago
There's actually numerous jobs out there that seek freelance help. It's also a pretty good time to be equipped with the skills to get tasks done. Thanks for the comment Matt!
