Some of them are good, I should add some plugin for my blog too. And Daniel, I like they way you make your blog images, so I can learn something from it. Did make that in photoshop? Can I have the action if you have any...
  • Jim Gaudet · 1 year ago
Nice, I am always interested in more plugins...

BTW - This post was worth Stumbling. I added to Digg, Reddit and Yahoo Buzz as well.

Hi Daniel - I found you site through problogger's social experiment. I'm always intrigued by the list of best plugins and enjoy seeing what others think are the best.

I have a question about Comment Relish - does it send an email every time someone comments? If so, can it be set to email less frequently? I ask because I visit one site and every time I comment I get an email. It gets annoying because they say the exact same thing and I end up deleting them w/out even reading.

What about KeywordLuv or WP Super Cache (it's great!).
  • Daniel Richard · 1 year ago
@Kim - Yeah. The plugin's site stated that it will only send out the messages to first time commentors. However, it seems like the plugin keeps sending out for every single comments.

That's why the new trick now is to keep the messages (that would be sent out) as fresh as possible by changing the text from time to time. :)

I have some of these plugins and liked a couple more. The counterize II plugin says compatible to 2.5, does it cause any problems or even work with the latest wordpress? great list.

I'm currently using BlogSpot to 'cut my teeth' as a new blogger. Everywhere there are hacks and themes that simulate things available in WP --- 'imitation is the most sincere form of compliment.' So to see what it's all about, I've set up a WP account. Your iinformative post will be very useful (someday!) One thing I've learned to do is verify that a blog that actually uses the plugins or widgets they write about.

@Wei Liang - Haha. Thanks for the positive comment there man!

@BloggerNewbie - Counterize II works even all the way up to the latest versions of WP. It's one of the most simplistic (and practically useful) counter tools that I strongly recommend. :D

Thanks all for the comments! Keep them coming.

  • Mitch · 1 year ago
Number nine looks interesting, the related posts plugin. Course, I'm wondering if that would mean I'd have to stop my own internal linking, since some of those posts would suddenly be listed twice; hmmm, have to think about that one some more. Great list.

  • Daniel Richard · 1 year ago
@Mitch - Heya! #9 on the Related Posts plugin still allows you to continue the practice of internal linking from blog posts. Here's a secret of mine for this plugin: I use it to list out the most commented posts when there's no related articles. :)
